Before we get started, our friends at Fivecoursefilms worked with us, EasyBites, to give a short review on the movie down below:

Here’s a simple recipe for Ratatouille:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large eggplant, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 2 medium zucchini, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 1 large yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 large tomatoes, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom.
  3. Arrange the sliced vegetables in an alternating pattern in the baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic, chopped basil, thyme leaves, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this herb mixture over the vegetables.
  5. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the top of the vegetables.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, allowing the top to brown slightly.
  8. Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top before serving.
  10. Serve the Ratatouille on its own or over cooked quinoa, rice, or pasta for a complete meal.
Enjoy your homemade Ratatouille while savoring the delightful memories of the iconic animated film!
