Living with Yourself series poster on Netflix

“I just wanted your life. I loved your life.”

New Miles Elliot, Living with Yourself, Season 1: Nice Knowing You

Year Released: Oct. 18th 2019

Living with Yourself is a comedic drama mini series starring Paul Rudd  and Aisling Bea. The show was directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris while having been produced by Timothy Greenberg, Anthony Bregman, Jeff Stern, Jeffrey Blitz, Tony Hernandez, Paul Rudd, Jonathan Dayton, and Valerie Faris. The series had received relatively positive reviews generally in the 7/100 range. If you have the subscription, then Netflix is the way to go to catch all 8 episodes.

This show introduces us to our main character, Miles Elliot (Rudd), who’s a copywriter and is pretty miserable. His luck isn’t the best, his marriage is falling apart and he’s constantly stressed. This all changes when he visits a spa that promises to bring out the best version of himself, and that they do. The only caveat to that is the version who gets to go home is a more optimistic clone. The spa tosses out the original and digs a grave for them. If successful, the clone is unaware of their origins as they have the original’s memories and the original is gone. As the title would suggest, the attempt was botched, the original wakes up to dig himself out of the grave to head home to where his clone is sleeping next to their wife.

So, like I mentioned in my 11/22/63 series review, I have a weakness for media covering the themes of cloning and/or time travel because of the implications it could have. How much of our personalities revolve around nature versus nurture? These themes dive deep into the morality of a person and I’m here for each and every minute of it. There was a roller coaster of emotions I went through when watching the series and it got a high recommendation from me. Here’s a trailer for what you can expect.
