Howl’s moving castle (2004)

Howl's moving castle

The movie is the story of a girl named Sophie who is cursed by an evil witch and instantly turns into a 90-year-old grandmother. The moving castle in the movie’s title is the home of a capricious wizard named Howl. As the title suggests, the castle moves around the wilderness diligently using its four slender legs. Sophie works as a cleaner at this castle, which leads to all sorts of adventures for her.

A gloomy and introverted protagonist named Sophie grows into a lively and challenging woman in a fantastic fairy tale setting. Of course, in the meantime, Sophie is having a bit of a romantic relationship with her handsome playboy, who loves her magic. The setting of making the girl old lady is an ironic dramatic device designed from the beginning to give back to the girl, with her aged and weary soul, the vigor and courage appropriate for her own age.

Those who expected Miyazaki Hayao to deliver something truly new with this work may also have been disappointed. It won’t be much different from his previous films that we’ve seen so far, and as soon as you see the flying airplanes flying over a 19th-century European city, you might automatically say, “Again?”

However, [Howl’s Moving Castle] is pleasant to watch enough from legendary master, and as always, it is full of rich images and familiar, cute, and fantastic characters. Of course, we should not forget Miyazaki-style machines. Howl’s Moving Castle is depicted as a huge steam engine. The familiar thrill that audiences can feel as this self-proclaimed mechanical creature traverses the hillside, emitting black smoke, is entirely Miyazaki’s own. [Howl’s Moving Castle] is a typical work of Miyazaki Hayao, and his fans will be truly satisfied.

A special note – As the owner of the castle and Calcifer, Howl’s cooking is truly skillful. Calcifer, who ate the eggshell, excitedly lights up the flames, and a warm breakfast is prepared in an instant for Howl, Sophie, and Howl’s apprentice, Markle. Check the detail of recipe with following article!
