A romantic song like <Brazil> (the song that plays constantly in the movie)… .” Even in a dream, an ordinary records bureau employee can transform into a knight wearing sparkling silver armor and slowly moving his huge wings to soar through the sky, rescuing an enchanted princess from the devil. He is either Don Quixote or Icarus. If we recall that Terry Gilliam’s ‘dream project’ was <Don Quixote>, it would be safe to view <Brazil> as an adventure drama that is a future version of Don Quixote, humming romantic songs and daring to confront the cruel reality with dreams.

The gaze of countless seniors who have despairingly denied a world full of miscellaneous trash is cast darkly throughout <Brazil>. There is no longer room for the romance, fantasy, myths, and legends of the past, and our situation, which has no choice but to reach a state of saturation with disorder while embracing the results of technology and progress, will not change in the future. We will have no choice but to get worse and worse.
